Rean Krav System (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a digital storytelling platform for Cambodian youth, supported by Generation Future Program – UNICEF Cambodia, Impact Hub Phnom Penh, Spean Chivit. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit reankravsystem.org or interact with our services.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with respect — especially because many of our users are young people. We collect only what is necessary to run the platform and never sell personal data to third parties.

Data we collect

Information you provide

• Email address — when you subscribe to our weekly digest or contact us.
• Name — optional, provided when submitting a story or using the contact form.
• Story content — text, images, and video links you submit through the submission form.
• Contact messages — name, email, subject, and message body sent via our contact form.

Information collected automatically

• IP address and approximate location (country/city level).
• Browser type and operating system.
• Pages visited and time spent on each page.
• Referring URL (the page you came from).

This technical data is collected via analytics tools (Google Analytics and PostHog) to help us understand how people use the platform and improve it. It is never used to build advertising profiles.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand usage patterns. Specifically:

• Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g., authentication sessions). These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics and PostHog to measure traffic and user behaviour. These are anonymised and do not track individuals across other websites.

You can disable analytics cookies by adjusting your browser settings or using a browser extension such as uBlock Origin. Essential cookies cannot be disabled without breaking core site functionality.

User submissions

When you submit a story through our platform:

• Your story content is reviewed by our editorial team before publication.
• If approved, your story is published publicly on the platform under the name you provide.
• You retain ownership of your original content. By submitting, you grant Rean Krav System a non-exclusive licence to publish and distribute your story.
• Your story may be lightly edited for clarity before publishing.
• You may request removal of your published story at any time by contacting us at reankravsystem@gmail.com.

Our Partners

Rean Krav System is supported by Generation Future Program – UNICEF Cambodia, Impact Hub Phnom Penh, Spean Chivit. Under these partnerships:

• Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics may be shared with our partners for programme reporting purposes (e.g., total subscriber count, number of stories published).
• No personally identifiable information is shared with any partner without your explicit consent.
• Partners do not have access to individual user accounts, submission data, or contact form messages.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers — Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Resend (transactional email), Brevo (newsletter). Each provider processes data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
• Analytics — Google Analytics and PostHog receive anonymised usage data. Google Analytics data is processed under Google's privacy terms.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal process.

Data retention

• Newsletter subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
• Published stories — retained indefinitely unless you request removal.
• Unpublished/rejected submissions — deleted after 90 days.
• Contact form messages — deleted after 12 months.
• Analytics data — retained for 26 months (Google Analytics default), 12 months (PostHog).

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Withdraw consent for email communications at any time by clicking unsubscribe.
• Object to processing of your data for analytics purposes.
